Boulder Highlights

When visiting Boulder, you'll take in the stunning Colorado scenery, and you're likely to enjoy one of our 300+ sunny days. If you like being outdoors, this is the place for you. Boulder is surrounded by a wonderful greenbelt of open space with 120 miles of trails. The front range of the Rocky Mountains rises on the west side of town, and the entire region is a paradise for outdoor activities like cycling, climbing, hiking and every outdoor activity imaginable (that doesn't require the ocean). We do have our mini-version of the ocean at the Boulder Rez, (the Reservoir)!

Boulder has two Universities, the University of Colorado (or CU) and Naropa University, a secular, Buddhist-oriented school. We've got several government scientific institutions: NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), home of the atomic clock that defines everyone's time, NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research), and NOAA. Pearl Street Mall (below), which is filled with street performers and fantastic shopping and dining.

Don't forget to take the hilarious and always entertaining Banjo Billy's Bus Tours while you're in town. I recommend this tour highly, even if you've lived in Boulder for many years! And please do visit the beautiful Boulder Public Library . Check out their calendar for the schedule of free films, concerts, art openings, and other events.

The metro scene isn't world famous for it's art, but Boulder Museum of Contemporary Arts (BMOCA) is certainly worth a visit. And not to be missed is the Dushanbe Tea House. A favorite local business for locals and visitors alike is McGuckin Hardware. This store has been in business for over 50 years, and they truly have EVERYTHING!
