Serving the Boulder music community for over 25 years, H.B. Woodsongs began as a Folk Arts music shop in 1970. The shop has a down-to-earth feel and the people who work there greet every person in a welcoming way. Now at 2920 Pearl Street, not too far from downtown Boulder, they've modernized their selection to include electric guitars and amplifiers, as well as all the classics in wood with strings. In general, they sell high-quality guitars, banjos, mandolins and band & orchestra musical instruments. They also have a large selection of music books, videos, recordings and other supplies. One great thing that really stands out is their superb instrument rental program... perfect for the budding musical child!

Thank goodness some things never change. As in years past, their friendly sales people will take care of all your musical needs. In the adjoining cottage, are Woodsongs Studios where lessons are offered in every style by teachers of critical acclaim. This includes lessons on the guitar, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, violin and cello. In addition, walk up the stairs and you'll find Woodsongs Lutherie. It's one of Colorado's finest repair shops. They specializes in stringed instrument repairs and the amplification of acoustic instruments. I got to see the guys at work while filming, and I can tell you... they really know their stuff!

Woodsongs offers top quality instruments in every price range. They carry name brand manufacturers with solid reputations. Some of the guitars that they carry are: Taylor Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Larrivee, Alvarez, Seagull, Santa Cruz, Blueridge, Regal and G&L guitars.

I personally have had my eyes on the G&L guitars for some time now! These were made by Leo Fender himself after he sold Fender guitars.

In summary, Woodsongs offers not only high-quality instruments, for both purchase as well as rental, but they offer their combined extraordinary knowledge-base... as well as a friendly smile.

Dana Flitcraft, owner of H.B. Woodsongs moved to Boulder in 1969. At the time, Woodsongs was primarily an acoustic guitar shop (electric guitars and violins would be introduced decades later). She had decided to go back to school in music at CU when she was given the opportunity to buy the store. "It sounded like a fun and meaningful thing to do to help the Boulder community".

On January 1st of 1989 Woodsongs opened it's doors with it's new owner. She's loved it ever since! "I always loved music", says Flitcraft. "I've been singing ever since I can remember. I do think that it's the universal language. Everyone has something inside them that needs to come out and music is the perfect vehicle".

The Scene - A Guide to Boulder Music Events and Musicians

The folks at HB Woodsongs compiled a great directory to help you find information about local and national musical events, local performers to hire for your special events, and local music teachers. The Events Calendar contains listings and links to the sites of specific venues and to the sites of several online calendars. The Muscians Section lists performers by the styles of music which they play, and suggested types of events, while the Instruction Section contains listings and links to individuals by the instrument which they teach, as well as a listing of music schools and music teacher organizations.
