How Sweet (and Savory) It Is!

When our good friend told us about this great spice shop over a year ago located in downtown Boulder, we had to see the Savory Spice Shop. At the time, I was excited to see that a local store would allow me to buy quantities as small as 1/2 an ounce and that everything was fresh - not sitting in a McCormick's spice jar for months... to years, that they carried organic items and that the employees were very helpful and friendly. Metroseen wasn't even conceived at the time. We loved the place purely as consumers!

So, it was only natural, being that Savory Spice Shop represented so much that we love (local, quality and friendly) for us to approach them to do a video and to showcase their establishment. Dan Hayward is one of the friendliest guys in Boulder and it didn't take him but a few minutes to say that he loved the idea and would want to be involved (took a little longer than that to finally shake hands!). We're so glad that he and Savory Spice Shop came onboard with us!

Fast forward to final production and to 3 days after posting the video. With close to 200 views in 3 days, we've received nothing but compliments! People say that they can actually smell the spices through their screens! Little did we know that the video would come out as good as it did. We're very proud indeed.

It was an interesting experience too. Aside from getting to go to the back room where the peppers were ground (you can also experience by looking through a big window); not only did we see the gift boxes being created and the made-to-order packages being made - but we also had some special guests in the house.

We were blessed with an impromptu appearance by a patron named Ellen who was simply shopping at the time. She was a natural. Her descriptions of Savory and her experience there became a highlight of the video. You could tell she's a regular! Next was Sarah Blecher from  The Culinary School of the Rockies followed by Jen Yu of  userealbutter (AKA @userealbutter in the twitter world). Both of these women, with their high levels of expertise in the culinary arena, helped to really showcase how important Savory Spice Shop's presence in Boulder is to the community - in fact, they both truly shop there and love the place!
