Bold As Love In Boulder: A Valentine's Day Guide

Boulder may not make it to the top of the list of most romantic cities in the world, (We wouldn't even try to compare the Boulder Creek Path to the canals in Venezia) but still... something's in the air here. There’s a buzz in town, and in recent years Boulder has grown a little more sophisticated. There's more appreciation for the arts, for cuisine and for theatre than there used to be, and there's even been a slight decrease in super-casual attire in trade for a new appreciation for dressing up. Pearl St. is increasingly becoming restaurant row and we've got our hidden gems as well. So, why not create a list that speaks of the romantic places our city does have?

What does one (er, hopefully 2 people) do for Valentine's Day? After a little bit of detective work on behalf of cupid, we put together a simple list of things happening on the special day, with some fun local gift ideas and a few suggestions for romantic dining. We've also included some incredible gourmet recipes for those who appreciate the coziness of their own home while celebrating.

See our latest article,
'How To Spend A Weekend in Boulder, CO – Guided by Locals' for some ideas on great places to eat. This time, however, we asked restaurant owners to tell us about their Cupid-inspired culinary events. There's no bias - these restaurants happened to respond to us - and they do happen to be places worth bragging about.

The Big Red F Restaurant Group is a group of restaurants who are all offering Valentine diners many delicious options. Their menus and list of events can be seen on their website.

Ok, on to some other nice spots to consider...

Colterra in Niwot (210 Franklin St., Niwot, CO), known for their farm-to-table meals with European flare, has caught the attention of socialites as far away as Denver who are looking for a more hidden and quaint spot. Well, Colterra's Chef-owner, Bradford Heap, has done it again... this time in the heart of downtown Boulder by the name of SALT. (1047 Pearl Street)

There are so many wonderful things to be said about this great place, but we'll save that for another time. For Valentine's, SALT is featuring a romantic 3 course dinner, $55/person with optional wine pairing. They say reservations or walk-in is available, but based on what we're seeing... you might want to make that reservation!

The Black Cat (1964 13th Street) is no stranger to romance. A few years new, they've rapidly become a favorite in town. The farm-to-table earthy-organic experience mixed with their elegant decor and fine cuisine makes this a place fit for romantics any night of the year.
